Muzisayi Fm
Type Locality and Naming
SE Tarim Basin. The Muzisayi Fm was named by Feng Mingdao, Li Tiande et al. in 1981.The type section is in the Muzisayi Village, Ruoqiang County, Xinjiang Weiwuerzhu Zizhiqu (Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region). The Muzisayi Fm is the lower formation in the Taxidaban Gr.
Synonym: (木孜萨依组)
Lithology and Thickness
The Muzisayi Fm is composed of dark-grey, grey-green carbonate rock and clastic rock, which have diverse microplants. Lower part is phyllite with quartz schist. Middle part consists mainly of quartzite and siltstone, intercalated with calcareous fine-grained sandstone and dolomitic limestone Upper part is limestone and dolomitic limestone. The formation is about 500 - 3600 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The base is an unconformable contact onto the underlying the Beiketan Fm of the Baxkorgan Gr.
Upper contact
The top is conformably overlain by the Jinyanshan Fm
Regional extent
SE Tarim Basin. It is distributed at Altun Mts., the juncture zone between Qinghai Province. and Xinjiang Province

Fossils
The phyllite has palaeornicroplants Trachysphaeridium. Leiopso phosphaera, Nucello- sphaeridium, Asperatopsophosphaera, Lophosphaeridium, Leiominuscula, Leiofusa, Glottimorpha etc.
